A teachers’ training camp led by eminent teachers from the Science Communicators’ Forum (SCF), an initiative, coupled with the ‘Learning by doing’ project works, took place in Moukhali on 26th February 2024. The session was organized for the teachers of the MSS centers in Canning Cluster I, comprising the Basanti and Jaynagar blocks.

The workshop started with a welcome note by Dr. Alokananda Ghosh, representing the education wing of Mukti. She also introduced the trainers Smt. Rinku Das and Mr. Saikat Ganguly. She informed the audience that on top of their professional commitments, the trainers are working hard at the state and national levels to popularise science and build rationality among the young generation. Smt. Das and Mr. Ganguly then gave an overview of the workshop objectives and agenda.
The training started with simple experiments using low/no-cost materials on the topic of air pressure, which is included in the syllabi of classes VI to X. It was ensured that every participant interacted and shared their thoughts and experiences. Experiments on force and motion, properties of light, magnetism and gravitational force were also demonstrated.

It was evident that the teachers were convinced that science could indeed be taught joyfully. The exchange of thoughts and ideas during this highly interactive session was very enriching for all. Mukti is hopeful that the same spirit will be maintained throughout the year in the MSS classrooms.
