Village Level Gender Workshop

01. Why the project ?

• To train a group of women from across Sundarbans to be changemakers in their communities regarding gender issues.
• To train the women on mobilizing their communities and train others in the village on the similar issues
• To train the cohort to identify the instance of gender discrimination and violence and to act as point of contact or referral.

02. What the project is ?

The Project is structured in 2 layers:-
• First layer focuses on ToT model to train a cohort of women on gender, discrimination, and violence issues.
• In Second layer, our focus is to foster a foundational understanding of gender within the village-level men’s group through trained women.
• Trained women will disseminate their learning and address these issues in their family, networks, and village.
• Training includes outreach processes, campaign planning, and identifying allies

03. How the project is?

• Project started in January 2023 and is ongoing.
• Currently supporting 29 women (Shahoshini) through training and capacity building programs.
• Reached over 1500 women through village meetings.
• A team of Project Coordinator, Field supervisor are rigorously working on the field

04. Where the project is?

Mathurapur I & II, Patharpratima, Canning, Jaynagar I & II block, South 24 Parganas, Sundarbans

05. What the impact is?

Till date, we have benefitted approx. 1000 women, conducted 100+ gender level workshops and 10+ awareness camps in different block of Sundarbans
