Mukti Hosts 20th Annual Programme of Talented Students Scholarship (TSS)

Mukti organised the Annual Talented Students Scholarship (TSS) Programme on 6th December 2025 at Rabindra Bhawan, Rajpur, reaffirming its commitment to supporting meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds across West Bengal. New students were awarded scholarships, continuing the initiative’s mission since 2006 to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder access to higher education.

The event began with a lamp-lighting ceremony and cultural performances, followed by the formal distribution of scholarships. Distinguished guests shared inspiring messages, encouraging students to stay confident, embrace continuous learning, adapt to emerging technologies like AI, and uphold values such as humility, empathy, and social responsibility. They also motivated students to give back to society in the future.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from Mukti and its stakeholders to continue empowering young learners through education, mentorship, and support, making TSS a lasting platform for transforming lives.

About TSS

Talented Students Scholarship (TSS) – A Journey of Hope and Transformation

MUKTI's Talented Students Scholarship (TSS) Programme was started in 2006 with only 10 beneficiaries with a clear vision: talented students should not have to give up their higher education because of financial difficulties. The programme provides support to deserving students from economically disadvantaged families and helps them continue their academic journey towards a stable and independent future.

Over the years, TSS has grown significantly and has become one of MUKTI's important education initiatives. According to MUKTI's latest published information, the programme has created a community of 2,385+ alumni, with beneficiaries pursuing and establishing themselves in Medical, Engineering, Science and General disciplines. The programme has reached students from different districts of West Bengal, creating opportunities for talented young people who might otherwise struggle to continue higher education.

TSS goes beyond providing financial assistance. Along with scholarship support, the programme focuses on sponsor and student interaction, mentorship, life-skills development, career guidance and personal growth. Students are encouraged to communicate with their sponsors, discuss their academic progress and challenges, develop confidence and prepare themselves for future professional careers. The selection process also considers both academic merit and financial need, helping ensure that support reaches deserving candidates.

A significant part of the TSS journey is the “Giving Back to Society” philosophy. The programme encourages successful beneficiaries to remain connected with the community and support the next generation. Alumni are encouraged to mentor younger students, participate in volunteering and social initiatives, and eventually contribute financially when they become professionally established. In this way, one scholarship can create a continuing cycle of support and social impact.

The programme has also continued to strengthen its activities through annual events and sponsor–student engagement. MUKTI organised the 20th Annual TSS Programme in December 2025, where 150 new beneficiaries received scholarships. In 2026, sponsor–student interactions and academic and career-focused activities continue to provide guidance and encouragement to beneficiaries.

The success of TSS is therefore not measured only by the number of scholarships provided. Its real impact can be seen in the transformation of talent into education, education into professional opportunities, and professional success into social responsibility.

From its beginning with just 10 beneficiaries to a growing community of more than 2,060 alumni, the TSS journey demonstrates how sustained educational support can transform individual lives, strengthen families and create a positive impact across communities.

TSS is more than a scholarship programme, it is a journey from opportunity to education, from education to empowerment, and from empowerment to giving back to society.

Voice of President

Born and raised in a remote village of the Sundarbans, Mr. Shankar Haldar overcame extreme poverty through determination, perseverance, and hard work to establish himself in life. As he began thinking about giving back to society, he found the support of several accomplished and like-minded individuals who had also grown up in the same village and achieved success in their respective fields.

Together, they shared a common vision—to create meaningful and sustainable change for underprivileged communities. This collective vision eventually gave birth to MUKTI, an organization dedicated to empowering marginalized people through education, healthcare, livelihood development, disaster management, and social welfare initiatives.

Join us as we hear the inspiring story of how MUKTI was founded—directly from its Founder and President, Mr. Shankar Haldar.
