Abhijit Das
I am Abhijit Das, a student from the small village of Shipur under Egra Subdivision in Purba Medinipur district. I come from a humble background—my father, Asit Das, is a farmer, and my mother, Abha Das, is a homemaker. Due to our limited financial resources, my journey has been full of struggles since the beginning. I passed my Higher Secondary Examination in 2015 from Contai Model Institution. However, soon after that, I had to face one of the most difficult phases of my life. Because of financial constraints, I had to discontinue my studies for three years. Despite this setback, I never lost hope. With the help of a friend who provided me with study materials and guidance, I began preparing for the NEET examination. My hard work finally paid off in 2021 when I successfully cleared NEET and secured admission to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital. Even during my medical studies, financial challenges continued to be a constant struggle. To support myself, I gave private tuition during my first and second professional years, and I relied heavily on the college library for my studies. Due to my gap years, I was initially not eligible for scholarships, which made my journey even more difficult. Later, I came to know about MUKTI through one of my seniors and applied during my 3rd Professional Part-1. MUKTI, along with its sponsor YCPL/VIVO, supported me with financial assistance and continuous guidance, which helped me continue my studies without interruption. With the help of this scholarship, I was able to purchase the necessary books and focus fully on my education. Eventually, I successfully passed my final professional examination and am currently serving as an intern at Midnapore Medical College and Hospital. Looking ahead, I aspire to pursue postgraduate studies (MD/MS) by preparing for NEET-PG after completing my MBBS. My ultimate goal is to become a skilled doctor and serve people in remote rural areas who lack access to proper medical facilities. I am deeply grateful to MUKTI and my sponsors YCPL/VIVO for their unwavering support throughout my journey. Without their help, it would not have been possible for me to reach where I am today.
