Protect Sundarbans By Planting Mangroves

Mangroves give protection to the coastline and minimizes the disasters due to cyclones and tsunami. They act as shock absorbers and reduces high tides and waves and help to prevent soil erosion. The 4 cyclones (Fani, Bulbul, Amphan and Yaas) in just a short span of 2 years has raised a question on increasing climate change.

The land in Sundarbans region, over the time got deforested by human interferences. Thus to protect our Sundarbans and to regenerate the forest cover this was deforested over the time by the people for their various interest. Mukti will plant 1lac Mangrove plants with the help of SHG women. The Organization will make sure that each tree is Up, running, and healthy condition. These SHGs women will be responsible for collecting seeds, planting, and maintaining plants in the proposed area of intervention. The women involved in maintenance of the Mangrove will be getting Food Support from MUKTI for a period of 1 year.
