Education is one of the main elements among the three to measure Human
Development Index (HDI). Thus, education holds the prime priority for
development of all the region and Sundarbans is no exception. So far, the
educational standard is concerned, all the blocks are not highly developed and
henceforth they are not equally enlightening for the advancement of the society
and strengthening the economic base of Sundarbans. Sundarbans should be more
developed than the present if its educational sector improves much more. Proper
education can make the people aware and more conscious about their betterment
and necessity to save the forest area of Sundarbans.
In Sundarbans region, we do not have enough teachers or easy access to
good institutions, thus MUKTI is approaching towards adopting a focused,
systematic program to enable learning. There are several educated women in the
project areas who are now unemployed, the covid-19 pandemic has devastated
their life and the dreams of many such women who were working hard pre-pandemic
to earn their livelihood. To support such hard working- educated women MUKTI
came out with a plan to provide a means of dignified livelihood to them in
their vicinity only.
With the help of this project, Mukti is providing employment opportunity
to the educated women of the Sundarbans region. The women are engaged in
teaching students from class 1st to 4th in a batch of 15-25 each. The women
will be getting salary/ food support from the organization. One Project
In-charge has been appointed to monitor the project and will make sure that all
the Teachers will work with in the guidelines of the organization and
with full dedication
Need of the Project
The challenges of education in rural areas are
vast, the mandate is wide and therefore, the opportunities too are tremendous
Several other shortcomings were recognized in the
formal school system like unavailability of teachers, lack of study materials,
the teacher-student ratio and liaison between them.
To cater this problem, Mukti made the initiative to
provide primary coaching to the poor students in marginalized areas of
Sundarbans.
The program was aimed not only to help the poor
primary students but also to create an alternative livelihood source of income
among the impoverished women, who lost their livelihood in Covid-19 and natural
calamities, thus taking a step ahead to eradicate poverty and hunger among them
and their children.

The Sundarbans, through the work
of its islanders and supporting organizations, can become a resourceful
community for children to grow. These deprived students of Sundarbans need our
help and support. The literacy rate as well as the status of education of the
entire Sundarbans region need to grow. Due to the remoteness, less accessibility
and poor connectivity, shortage of money, less educational facilities,
and emphasis on income generation, most of the students are dropping out.
We need support to bring them into the mainstream and give an environment of
education.
Your contribution will help the students to get their basic education
