I, Debmalya Chanak, 2nd year Mbbs student of Ipgmer and Sskm Hospital, Kolkata. I was informed about Mukti Scholarship for the financially challeging student, from one of my friend named Soumyadeep Giri, who has been getting this scholarship for few years. I am from district Hooghly. Presently I am living in the hostel provided by IPGMER, Kolkata.
I belong to a financially challenged family where cultivation is the main source of income. Including me, there are 4 members in my family: My father- Gouranga Chanak(farmer), My mother- Madhabi Chanak( housewife ) &
My elder sister- Debashrita Chanak( unmarried, unemployed ). I have passed 10th and 12th class with 93.57% in 2018 and 96.2% in 2020 marks respectively. I was passionate to be a doctor and it becomes dream comes true when I'd got selected in Mbbs in 2023. From the year 2020 to 2023 I have attempted NEET examination 4 times. I became failed to crack the examination in first 3 attempts because of hard circumstances in my family but in the last attempt in 2023 I had focused only on my study and to achieve goal and successfully I have cracked it. All of the credits of my achievement are to my parents.I had choiced to be a neurosurgeon in future when I read about Dr. Sujay Rao who is one of the best neurosurgeon in India. His skills and life-story influenced me a lot to choose my dream. The only source of income in my family comes from cultivation and the annual income is near about Rs 60000. My father is the only earning member in my family and other 3 persons(including me) are totally dependent on him. Due to recent heavy flood most of our cultivated lands get damaged. Also my education and living expenses are also costlier. So it will be a burden for him and not be feasible to manage the overall expenditure. That's why I need this scholarship. |
