About |
My name is Koushik Karmakar, and I am from Bhadur, Hooghly. Currently, I am in my 4th year, pursuing a B.E. degree at Jadavpur University. I am an orphan; my mother passed away due to breast cancer when I was in class 4, and my father passed away when I was in class 7. My elder brother and I grew up in a hostel where a social worker provided us with accommodation. After a few years, for some reasons, that kind-hearted person could no longer continue supporting us. My brother went to live in an NGO where people with an income below 3000 could stay, while I lived with that social worker’s relatives, who provided me with food and shelter. I continued my education with the help of a scholarship and by earning from private tutoring. My brother is pursuing his M.Voc degree (1st Year) through self-financing. He works part-time with Swiggy to cover his expenses, including his education and food.
Unfortunately, I got a backlog in one subject during my 1st semester, which resulted in losing my scholarship after receiving it once. This led to financial difficulties, and I am now unable to pay my hostel mess bills. The scholarship helped me greatly in overcoming this financial crisis. I aspire to work with Mukti Organisation, and I am currently involved with another organization, Swamiji Netaji Seva Sangha (Sodepur), which serves the community . |
